Ridgefield Events - July 2010

The Artists in the Vineyard festival at Confluence Vineyard and Winery last week end was a great success! Thanks to all of you who attended and bought artwork from our local artisans. The festival collected money for the Oregon Food Bank and Neighbors Helping Neighbors.

Ridgefield Farmers Market happens every Saturday, but it was unsure at press time if they will be moving to Overlook Park this week.

A group of Ridgefielders are trying to get some pick-up Ultimate Frisbee going and would like to invite any and everyone interested in having some fun and getting some cardio at the same time. We meet every Wednesday at 6:30pm in the field between the middle school and elementary school. Information: Celia Antonini, celia.antonin@vansd.org

I always get the East Fork Cellars events announcement too late to list, but they have music going every Tuesday and Friday nights. Call them for next week's information: East Fork Cellars , (360) 727-3055, www.eastforkcellars.com

This news from Elizabeth Madrigal: Heritage Day (August 21) is still seeking artists to add to this event. If you look at what is going on - including the Farmers' Market - this is going to draw a crowd. I have promoted this event on KBOO, with Noel at Lewisriver.com, the Columbian, the Reflector, the Oregonian, Washington Zest, Bonafied Country Magazine, Vancouver Voice, The Daily Insider, and to lots of movers and shakers around town. And now I'm telling you about it!

The Community Center and the Heritage Day Committee are spending money to place ads in the papers too, so expect a crowd at this free event. You'll have antique-ers, families for pony rides, the Boy Scouts giving roping lessons and there will be a draw for locals with antique farm equipment. And the Fairground Church Ladies will sell their famous pies.

The community center's 25th anniversary, First Independent Bank's 100th anniversary and Heritage Day's 10th anniversary are going to make this day a memorable one.

Come, show up with a few easels or a table or whatever, stay as long as it makes sense and you are still enjoying yourself. No clean up, no fees, no commission, no hassle... just a great opportunity! If you are going to do it, a quick email to me would be great.

Elizabeth Madrigal, 360-887-4530, elizabeth.madrigal@gmail.com.

Note from Kathy - Alcove Art Gallery will be there!

Nine school friends will be hosting a fundraiser carwash this Saturday, July 31st. It will be held at the Nazarrene Church on Pioneer Street in downtown Ridgefield, across from View Ridge Middle School, between 10am and 3pm.

All proceeds will be used for their 8th grade Washington DC trip happening next June. Several of the families may not be able to afford to send their kids so we are holding this fundraiser to help everyone out. Any donation would be OK and we welcome you to bring your cars, SUV's, trucks, boats, fire engines, or ?? Information: Karen Estep, kestep2@comcast.net, 607-6120.
