Pick up the "Experience Ridgefield" booklet at the first store you visit. Find the letter on a picture of a star in each store, and record it in your booklet. When the list is complete, deposit your booklet in the jar at Season's Coffee Shop. On Saturday a name will be picked to win the wonderful basket of items from Ridgefield Floral. The gift basket contains Melissa and Doug toys, ornaments, a candle, an LED color-change light, Ridgefield coffee, flavored popcorns, jewelry, nuts and fruits and many other items for a total value of $195.00. All of these items are for sale along with many others at Ridgefield Floral.


        Hometown Celebration events:

Earleen Griswold and her group of dedicated volunteers work all year to make our Hometown Celebration a success. There will be things happening all over town, starting with a 5k and 10k Fun Run and Walk at 9am. Registration starts at 8am at Pioneer and Main. On line registrations can be made at www.active.com.

First Independent will host an art show and sale by members of the Ridgefield Art Association from 10 to 4. Stop in for cider and cookies. I'll be hand painting cards while you watch! And they'll be for sale! There will be a basket for food donations in the lobby.

The craft bazaar at the Community Center runs from 9 to 4, and includes Allen Wodaege's White Elephant Sale with 2 1/2 pick-up loads of new and used merchandise. She outdid herself this year, with new Christmas items, home décor, a few pieces of silver, a large salt and pepper shaker collection, folk art items, etc. Paper back books are 40 cents, and hardback books are 75 cents. All money collected will add to the fund to buy a piece of art for Overlook Park.

Over 40 vendors will display their work at the bazaar. There will be many hand-made items as well as food.

The Ridgefield Business Association will offer free pet pictures with Santa at 208 Pioneer,

Columbia Credit Union will sponsor free horse drawn carriage rides between Zebrun's Starliner and the Ridgefield Community Center from noon to 3 pm.

Ridgefield Business Association will wrap gifts at the Pickled Heron, and Opus School of Music will provide music. Artist Blue Bond will do a painting demo.

Santa will be at the Pickled Heron from 12 to 3 pm. "Meet Santa!" photos are $4 each, or $3 with two cans of food, complements of Dan & Lisa Kallem, photographers. Information: 887-2295

Madrigal Singers will be at the Library at 1, and the Library will have an Open House all day.

The Old Liberty Theater will host a free holiday movie at 1 pm, and the Music Showcase of Ridgefield High School students at 3.

Country Insurance will sell roasted chestnuts at 208 Pioneer from 2-5.

To end the day on a happy note, we'll all gather at Overlook Park for carol singing and the lighting of the Ridgefield Christmas tree. The winner of the First Friday basket from Ridgefield Floral will be announced at the ceremony, and cocoa and cookies will be served.

As part of Ridgefield's December 4 Hometown Celebration, Northwest Workouts will offer a FREE Pilates 'How to Strengthen your Core' Class to anyone who'd like to give it a try! This one- hour workout will begin at 9:00 am Saturday morning. All fitness levels welcome! New students please arrive a few minutes early. Robin Hominiuk's Open Studio Tour and Pottery Sale will be Saturday, December 4 and 11 from 10 am to 5 pm, and Sunday, December 5 and 12 from 12 am to 5 pm. Visit her at 27000 NE Bjur Road. Information: 887-5120. There are two other potters on the tour, one in Brush Prairie and one in Battle Ground. Robin's pottery may also be seen at Alcove Art Gallery.


East Fork Cellars will host a Musical Variety Show with old time country western music on Thursday, December 9 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Pick up a dinner at Pacific NW Best Fish next door, bring it to the winery, and then buy a glass of wine and enjoy the music in a casual fun-filled atmosphere. American Legion Post 44, Ladies Auxiliary Unit 44 and Sons of American Legion Squadron 44 will hold their annual Post Christmas Party on December 7 starting at 6:00 PM. There will be plenty of great food and fun.

The Post, Unit and Squadron are also conducting a Membership Drive, so they would like to invite all interested persons to attend the party. For more information, call Bob Ford at 887-8351 or call the post and leave your contact info at 887-9550, someone will contact you.

The American Legion is the world's largest veterans service organization with over 3 million members. Their motto is "Still Serving America".


The Ridgefield Lions Club will take Cub Scout packs caroling at Carol Lee's Assisted Living and the Ridgefield Living Center on December 4. Both centers will be presented a generous cash contribution allowing each resident to receive a Christmas gift. They will finish off the evening by hosting traditional holiday refreshments for all carolers at Tony's Starliner. Thank you, Lions Club members!

Aho Construction donated $5,000 to the Ridgefield High School Boosters in a matching program earlier this year.


2011 Ridgefield Boat/Kayak Launch Use Fee Annual Passes are for sale at the Port of Ridgefield during regular business hours. Cost is $40 and $20. Information: 887-3873, www.portridgefield.org.
