Ridgefield, WA, November 30, 2010 – The City of Ridgefield, Washington is pleased to announce that it received a “clean” audit, free of findings or management letters from the Washington State Auditor’s office for the fiscal years 2008 and 2009. The auditors conducted two types of audits on the City. The first audit encompassed financial statements and reporting, internal controls and federal compliance, and the second audit covered accountability for public resources and compliance with state laws and regulations. The on-site field work concluded on October 29, 2010. The final Financial Statement and Federal Single Audit Report was issued on September 27, 2010 and the Accountability Audit Report on November 22, 2010.
The review of the financial statements indicated that the statements were presented fairly in all material respects. No significant deficiencies and material misstatements were noted or any instances of noncompliance. Internal controls of compliance were tested on the federal programs and all were deemed adequate to detect and prevent noncompliance with material federal requirements.
The accountability audit encompassed a review of City contracts, utility billings and receipting, developer agreements, procurement, disbursements and expenditures, payroll, conflicts of interest, and open public meetings. The results of the audit concluded that the City’s internal controls were adequate to safeguard public assets and that the City complied with State laws and regulations and its own policies and procedures.
Justin Clary, City Manager, said "The City of Ridgefield strives to maintain full compliance with Federal and State statutes. We are pleased with the recent audit results that demonstrate our effective management of city funds and compliance of existing laws".
