City of Ridgefield Welcomes a New City Engineer

Ridgefield, WA, September 20, 2007 – The City of Ridgefield, Washington is pleased to welcome Stephen Hale, PE/PLS to our team.
Stephen accepted the position of City Engineer and began work at the City on September 10, 2007. His fifteen years of engineering experience includes both public and private sector experience. He’s worked in the public sector for Clark County as a Development Review Engineer and Flood Plain Manager and in the private sector for various private companies where he managed land development projects and provided site development design engineering and land surveying services.
Stephen’s most recent experience includes owning and operating his own firm, Hale Design Services and Hale Development LLC, where he served as a consultant to developers, builders and land owners on infill development and engineering projects. Stephen holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Montana State University and is a registered professional engineer in Washington and Oregon and a licensed land surveyor in Washington, Oregon and Montana. Additional significant experience includes extensive education and knowledge in stormwater management and wetland delineation.
As the City Engineer, Stephen will replace Steve Wall who was promoted to the Public Works Director for the City in June. Stephen will assist in planning and organizing activities related to capital project design and construction of city infrastructure improvements and will provide oversight of development review, construction and inspection to help ensure all statutory and Council mandates are met. Steve Wall, Public Works Director, said "Stephen is a tremendous asset to the City. His experience and knowledge from both the public and private sector will assist the City in keeping up with the significant number of development and capital projects we’re currently juggling and will help ensure infrastructure constructed and installed with these projects meets city and industry standards."
The City of Ridgefield, incorporated in 1909, is a rapidly growing community located in northern Clark County, Washington approximately 10 miles north of Vancouver, Washington. Over the next 10 to 15 years, the City of Ridgefield expects to grow to a population of over 24,700 persons with an employment base of over 15,000 jobs. The City has adopted a Council-City Manager form of government. The City Manager acts as the chief executive officer of the City overseeing daily operations, annual budget development and implementation, and personnel. The City Manager works with a management team composed of the Director of Communications/City Clerk, Director of Finance and Administration, the Community Development Director, the Public Works Director and the Police Chief to insure that community services are provided and that the policy directives of the City Council are carried out in the most efficient manner possible.
