City of Ridgefield, Washington Welcomes New Additions

Ridgefield, WA, September 6, 2005 – The City of Ridgefield, Washington is pleased to welcome two new people to our team.

Gaylynn Brien, has accepted the position of Director of Finance and Administration will begin work on September 6, 2005. Gaylynn previously served as the Finance Manager for the Clark County Health Department and has fifteen years of experience in financial and accounting management with governmental entities including the City of Portland, the Southwest Washington Health Agency and Clark County. Gaylynn has a MBA from Washington State University – Vancouver and is a Certified Management Accountant.

Eric Pennala, Community Development Manager, joined the City’s team on August 8, 2005 and is responsible for all phases of growth management, zoning administration, permitting and land use development management. Eric has eight years of planning experience with the City’s of Maple Valley, Washington and Grants Pass, Oregon and holds Master’s Degrees in Urban and Regional Planning and Public Administration.

The addition of staff and restructuring of current staff was necessary to manage the growth and internal control processes. As the Director of Finance and Administration, Gaylynn will replace Tara Erickson, Controller who left the City in July for a career in the private sector. Gaylynn will manage and direct the maintenance and operation of the general accounting system of the City and its departments, will assist the City Manager in the preparation and administration of the budget, and prepare future forecasting data for the financial position of the City.

Eric will be a working manager; he will not only provide review services but will manage, plan, develop and implement programs; identify program outcomes, processes and priorities. Additionally, he will review the work of others in the Community Development Department and generate original work product for all phases of growth management, zoning administration, permitting, land use development management and production.

“With the rapid growth Ridgefield is facing, we must bring in professional and experienced staff to enhance the organization to be better equipped to manage our City”, said City Manager, George Fox.
