Mount St. Helens Institute Continues the Sunday Hiking Program
2009 Schedule

The Mount St. Helens Institute’s popular FREE Sunday Hiking Program is beginning on April 19, 2009 with a series of 14 hikes in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. Space is limited and reservations are required and available at www.mshinstitute.org.

The hikes are easy to difficult, ranging from 4 to 10 miles roundtrip. Dates and locations are as follows:

April 19, Hamilton Mountain Loop
May 3, Lewis River Falls
May 21, Dog Mountain (note—this is a Thursday)
May 31, June Lake Loop
June 14, Windy Ridge to Loowit Falls
June 28, Silver Star Mountain
July 12, Blue Lake Trail
July 26, Spirit Lake
August 9, South Coldwater Trail
August 23, Siouxon Creek
September 13, Indian Racetrack via Pacific Crest Trail
September 27, Lava Canyon
October 11, McBride Lake
October 25, Mount Mitchell

Trips are open to all ages and are appropriate for families. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. Trips are free, however, there is a suggested donation of $5.00 per person. Space is limited and reservations are required and available at www.mshinstitute.org.
