Senator Patty Murray attended the Ribbon Cutting ceremony at the Lilac Place Apartments on August 14, 2014. The apartment is part of the Lilac Place low-income housing complex, an $8.7 million Longview Housing Authority project that overcame neighborhood opposition.

The building, located on Glenwood Street, will give 38 families affordable housing, 28 of whom were formerly homeless. Officials dedicated it Thursday with the help of U.S. Sen. Patty Murray.

The project "symbolizes a fresh start for families who have been victims of domestic violence. It's where individuals, who have struggled with homelessness, can rebuild their lives,"" said Murray, D-Wash.
