Celebration Honoring Veterans - November 11, 2006


This year's 19th Annual Community Celebration Honoring Veterans co-sponsored by the North County Historical Museum and the Mt. Valley Grange began with a fund raising Desert Social benefiting the museum, from 5:30 to 6:30 P.M.

The program started at 7 P.M. Grange Master, Elinor Collins was the emcee. Events included presentation of the colors, recognition of veterans and community organizations, entertainment, student awards, museum raffle and door prize drawing. The keynote speaker was Bob Brink, manager of Pomeroy Living History Farm.

Working in partnership with area schools the NCHM coordinates an annual art/essay/poetry contest with cash prizes. This year's theme was "Homesteading in the Early 1800's."
